For the release of the 2021 Zombie film Wyrmwood Apocalypse, I was hired to design and create the film’s main title sequence.

The direction given was to create a sequence inside an ‘engine’, lots of burning hot metal, sparks and fire, but from there I had almost complete creative control.

The sequence in total took about 8 weeks from the earliest previs and animatic iterations to the final composite. A lot of care was taken to pay homage to the first film’s title sequence where possible, while creating a style and feeling distinct enough to represent the new film’s tone and energetic pacing.

The 3D engine animation was built in Cinema 4D, and composited in After Effects. The compositing process was aggressive, and involved recolouring individual reflections on pieces of metal, as well as adding stock fire and spark assets, lens artifacting, and more, to create a cohesive final product that I’m immensely proud of.
